Admin rules / guidance

Postby GTFO. OneManAndHisGun » 03 Jul 2007, 09:25

I'm posting this in here although I'm not one of the clan, it's more out of the way than the other areas.

Last night I got criticised on the Flash server by Celtickiller for slapping some retard for 20 points. Guy in question was running around spading his own team, standing in their way etc, basically not playing. He got one slap and behaved hmself thereafter. Very rare I slap, but I use it to good effect.

Celtic came and asked why I was slapping, and in future only slap for zero.

I have three issues with this ...

1) No-one's ever given me any guidance on what's right / wrong for admins to do. So I make it up as I go along and hopefully do the right thing.

2) If I am doing it wrong, I think the matter should be raised in here, not in a broadcast post during the game. It undermines my position as an admin to have other GTFO people criticise me for trying to sort a problem.

3) What would be the point in slapping for zero anyway? It would have no effect. The clown I slapped got the message very quickly and went on to play well.

I rarely slap, but I can see how you put it to good effect by taking points, may have to do that in future.

When I come accross fools, I kick them, if they are bing complete tards they get the exit without warning.

If admins want to debate something on server, I agree it shouldnt be public chat, so use admin chat. If you're unaware of admin chat type @ followed by a space, and then your message.
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" - I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

Mea Culpa, I will use the admin chat.

Any chance the Admin chat can display in red ? , or in the middle of the screen ?

I remember a thread from here before saying that it's wasn't really on to use it to take points from people.

I use it occasionally in advance of a kick, but slap 0 points. It shakes them up and is a passive first warning.

e.g someone MG whoring with 2 kills for 35 deaths.

people never seem to see the admin chat when i use it :?

white blends in with the "Blah has joined the server" etc..

depends what mood im in when it comes to idiots like that.. if im having a bad game (usualy due to ppl like that)they'l get the boot, but if im having a good game and in a good mood they will get slapped (how many points depending on how much of a tard they're being)

One problem here, is if people are in our IRC channel, they can see normal chat, team chat - and admin chat. Or did you do something about that, G?

Just a quick question on that admin chat thingy, what's up with that?

Sometimes it'll work, other time it wont and as G found out not so long ago, it'll broadcast it to everyone lol
