I heard Activision said they wanted a COD game released every year, so this is by no means a surprise. I also heard that EA were aiming to release Battlefield 3 on the same day, which would be interesting.

This might well be the game they put in their COD online service. Either that or next year it will be. Got some info on that last month from something and not too happy about what they're planning. They're actually considering taking away the ability to buy map packs, dlc and such and forcing you to subscribe to the service to get them.

I probs won't get this tbh. I want to find out what happened in the story after the end of MW2 but £40 for the same game with new missions, a few new maps and some story? fuck that. I'm more keeping my eye on Battlefield 3 atm. Looking great atm.

I've read a bit into the plot on Kotaku - it sounds awesome if a tad implausible. I've somehow got a feeling that they'll cock it up though, and I probably won't bother buying it. Unless of course, it turns out to be great.

despite all the flaws with MW2 it's one of my favourite games in terms of actual enjoyable gameplay.

If it had got dedicated servers instead of IWnet it would be almost perfect.

£40+ for a PC game that's just the standard edition? Activision can go fuck themselves.

They pulled this shit off with Starcraft 2 as well but I just bought a key from elsewhere for about £30. Dodgy site but it was worth it.

It's cheapest at Sainsbury's atm. You can get 20% off along with £2.50 worth of Nectar points;
Image

It brings it down to £35.99 for the XBOX/PS3 and £27.99 for PC, 'course if you're cool enough to work there too you can get an extra 10% off 8)

Black Ops was alright, would have been better if it didn't take two months to get the game in a working state. I've lost interest in playing it, but then again I've lost interest in a lot of other games too, that doesn't mean I disliked them though.

i did like MW2, it was a very good game that was dampened by the use of P2P, black ops set out to be a better game from the get go, i gave it credit when it first released that it would be optimized within a month or so, however they still have not addressed the issue and played a fast twitch game like COD requires a stable, good, fps.

I will probably pick this game up as IW do seem to make superior COD games however it just won't be at launch. Perhaps in 2012 when you can buy it on PC for under £20 (Game currently sell blops for £19) I will pick it up. And if Battlefield 3 isn't taking too much of my time up :)

Team perks sounds interesting to me. I posted some info on where they're going with their online service (either in MW3 or eventually) in the comments of Kotaku on of the MW3 articles. Activision had a company going around taking surveys for them, that company got a small one over here to go get it filled in and those people were at my uni. Got £5 for filling it out and had to sign an NDA for it. NDA had a huge flaw though that a few of us found when reading over the terms in that it doesn't apply to people in the UK so we can talk about it all we want.

Basically pricing range they're thinking of, what sort of content they'll be delivering, frequency and amount of content and that they're thinking about making you have to subscribe to get dlc and taking away the option to purchase it separately in future games like you can do at the moment.

Are Dedicated Servers Ranked or UnRanked?

Only matchmaking to public games are Ranked (meaning, you have to rank up to unlock weapons to rank on the leaderboards), choosing to play on a Dedicated Server is UnRanked. Meaning unlocks are completely controlled by the Server Admin. They can choose to unlock everything or limit class restrictions to whatever they like to fully customize the experience. You do not have to rank up in Public games to have access to weapons in Dedicated Servers, you have complete control over what is unlocked for you in a Unranked Dedicated Server.

so yeh, same shizzle as last time. Sweet. :) -_-

EDIT: well its some de ja vu from MW2, they buttfucked PC users 2 weeks before that release,

Different games, both will be good.

Just about to go ahead and order Hardened Edition (would have done it earlier but Game, Gamestation and Amazon all stopped taking preorders at the same time so had to look elsewhere). PC version is looking good with dedicated servers but it's a 360 game for me so I'm going with that version. :P The game is looking pretty good so far, went back and had some games of MW2 randomly just over a month ago and actually had fun with it for the first time in ages. In the mood for playing a new campaign for it and some new things for MP.

I was more interested in BF3 a while back as you can see but BF3 beta put me off (didn't enjoy the beta, mostly because of every game I played most people were trying to play TDM on a Rush map) and I changed my mind about MW3 after getting back into MW2.

That's the thing, it has become over the years a console game, which is a shame considering it was PC gamers that got the game popular in the first place. PC gamers always get shafted by these lot.

I may buy it when it goes really cheap just to do the co-op as I did enjoy them in MW2.

True, but both feature a different playstyle, COD is fast paced one man army, while BF3 is slower in my opinion. It's not that you don't get your fair share of noobtube campers in COD, but still.

Anywayz, I'll be buying it for the Spec Ops, cuz that just makes me wet just by looking at it.

In the objective based game modes in COD you can do a fair bit by yourself but I'd consider it fairly team work based, just much faster paced and a different focus on how to play. I'm looking forward to spec ops as well, just need to see if anyone I know is actually buying MW3. Looks like nobody I know is getting it so far which is a real shame.

Looks like I'll be headed to a MW3 launch event this Monday night. Starts at either 8pm or 8.30pm and will have a MW3 tournament where you can win a copy of the game, Spec Ops guys and pizza according to the people working in Game. I wasn't going to bother but it sounds like a fun event. I've been really getting into MW2 Domination today as well, got a 5 game win streak there and just decided to end it there for the night. Great fun.
