Hey guys, im a regular at gtfo servers (larolaro)

I just recently completed a map i have been working on and i was wondering if anyone would like to try it out?

It took 130 hours to complete and im itching to play with someone on it.

Its a regular control point map, but with an added new gameplay element.

If you play it please give me some feedback! Or if you have it hosted somewhere tell me! i would LOVE to try it out with players. :mrgreen:

It's definatly a new type of map that i havnt come across anywhere else.

i quite like the level design, but i'm sick of desert style maps, I want someone to make a cp map with lumberyards green level design.

Also sorry to say it but your objectives sound very hard, just make a basic cp map and i'm sure it would be better

Its not hard when you play it for real, its just hard to explain in words, perhaps i should have made a picture or something.

Its honestly very simple.

Maybe you can answer this:

How do you make custom textures work on an online server? We're tried including it into the bsp, but it doesn't work. Tried several progs, and done it the way it is described, and the bsp file even gets larger, so i know the textures are saved into the bsp, but somehow ppl cant download them automaticly.

Hmm im not sure why it wouldnt work?

Did you use pakrat to zip the files into the bsp? I found it to the only prog that worked for me.

I mean for all i know if my map ever gets hosted anywhere it might not even load up the textures.

i also tried that prog, yes. same story.
BUT - that was with hl2dm, not TF2. So might be different.

Hey nice map! 130 hours of hard work. I would love to try it at least for your efforts. Boy there's some talent out there!

I wouldn't know where to start.....I did try making a Opposing Forces map once, but it took for ever,
I never completed it.

Shame about the loading issues, hope you get it sorted. GTFO should give you the 'air time' :wink:

Yeah I agree.. Totally. If the loading issuses gets sorted, cant it be triedout on GTFO Servers/Server?

Hmm? It's not me that has the loading issues! The map is working fine! It was Echelon that had a problem with one of his maps.

I managed to play it with a few and the custom files and such are working great!

I really wish i had somewhere to try this with a full server, i've been asking around on steam chat for 2 full days but no luck...

Any chance it could make in on the custom servers?

It looks like you'd very quickly get two teams of snipers missing each other over and over, ignoring the control points. Still, some people seem to enjoy that...

I'm currently going over what people have been saying about the map and making some tweaks to the maps layout and visuals.

I'll update the screenies and the download link in an hour or so.

doc - hehe me too! I've spent ages on this map and im just dying to play it on a full server.

OK! I have updated the map concerning some issues and also given it a little makeover! :mrgreen:
It has a nice atmosphere now :shock:

Change log -

Added area portals to the spawn rooms to increase peformance.
increased elevator speed.
Made the cabin doors open faster when shot, they can also be shot from any angle now.
slightly nerfed the sentry boxes by making it take longer to enable them when standing on the killswitches.
Covered up the wall facing the center point on the sentry boxes to make it easier to push forward.
Enlarged all walkways and rooms so two people can pass each other.
Enlarged the division in the center to catch spammed shots.
Renamed the control points names after a spelling mistake.
Added paths and changed layout.
Added a description to the map.

Ok that's it, its ready to go! I changed the final versions name to cp_sandtrap_v1 so people wont get the bsp error when downloading the new map.
