Since fractus started a thread on favourite official TF2 maps (which I stickied) I thought we should have one for dods.

Good plan! It's gotta be Ava and Colmar for me... I've not played Colmar in ages (being a GTFO only player these days) but used to love it for the variety it brought to the game.

My two favourites are surprise surprise Donner... and Argentan - although we dont have an argentan server, and it would only come on occasionally with the rotation server when we had it.

Jagd + colmar are both a bit shite tbh...

Strand is the best c4 map i've seen.

Flash, Ava + Argentan are my faves

i looove avalanche cuz when i started playin dod i went ava 24/7 and there i stayed

got a admin rights and i knew all the bugs and stuff but i have noticed .. almost all of those bugs has been fixed

Ava and flash here! Flash used to be my fav back in the old days, followed by ava.

Though Ava is really actually unbalanced for the Axis team, I mean, the allies have SUPER easy acsess to the axis base, while the axis have to go past the allied spawn and first flag to get to the allied base which is really small and impossible to hide in, unlike the axis base which is big and has lots of places to go to avoid getting flushed out. The Allied first flag is eaiser to defend, the allies have an AWESOME snipe point right down at the second axis, they also got plenty of cover while running to cap it, unlike the axis that need to run right through the Allied spawn highway to get their second.

I think its sad that so many of the maps were more fun back in the old 1.3 or whatever it was. Like Jagd, I LOVED jagd in the old dod, now it's just bleh... There used to be some other brittish map too, with a big square and a city hall or something, don't remember the name though. That one was REAL fun!

I'm a closet fan of Jagd, love that map but sadly not many servers play it often. There are a few 3rd party maps that make for a good laugh but as for just the established rotation then my vote rests with the popular choice Donner. (Or Dod_Thunder depending on when you played the game :mrgreen:

)

Like Flash the most, it's so confronting, not many spaces to camp and it's a very fast map.
They say Flash is a good starter map, I disagree. When u camp u get easily killed, and mainly on GTFO-flash, they're many experienced players playing and u have to pretty darn good to get positive scores. If you don't believe try playing when Bunny, troops, Bust a Move, Ghostface, Nannanuk, Stop-Loss :lol:

... are playing. I bet ya you will get owned many times. Annyway, that's my opinion, GTFO Flash Kicks ASS!!!!

wow really surprised donner is so popular compared to all the other maps. it's definitely my least favorite map because of two reasons.

1. i feel like you need to play rifle/mg/sniper in donner in order to be really successful. i never play any of those.

2. when good players are on the server, you barely ever see either team win since it's a lot easier to defend than offend on this map.

i personally like more close combat maps like avalanche, though got tired of this one after 7 years, and the bombing maps (jagd and colmar).

I voted Donner, but I have to agree with TPK.

I also feel this map favors Allies a lot.

I voted Donner too. I've started playing DODS again about a week ago, and I'm already addicted to the 24/7 Donner server.

It's a fun map and it sure is a sniping, machinegunning or rocket map. I hardly play another class on this map. It's also kind of unbalanced (allies got an advantage), but it still is fun. And yes, you barely see a team win on this map, but I just love the fights for the garden :mrgreen:

I also like the bombing maps like colmar and jagd very much, lot of action with bombing and defusing etc. Real fun to play. Too bad there isn't a 24/7 GTFO server with bombing maps :mrgreen:

Kalt is also ok, lot of action on the street and in the sewers, but it isn't as intense as Donner.
