Truly a modern masterpiece, if you love guitar then you'll love this album (or rather song, as there is only one song on the album, 29mins long).

Probably the best contemporary progressive metal act at the moment, fantastic band, impressive sophomore album.

Completely agree with the choice of The Who, and Velvet Underground that's been mentioned.

However, my favourite album, EVAR!!! would have to be Furious Angels by Rob Dougan. Any other takers? Will admit to slightly preferring the Instrumental disc, but once you get past the stuff that's been overused on adverts some of it is...epic.

Richard Wright, keys and vocals from Pink Floyd, Wet Dream was his first solo album from 1978 and is a great peace of work. He only released two solo albums but was working on a third over the last couple of years until cancer finally got the better of him last year. Rest in Peace Rick

There are some real classic albums on this thread. Absolutely brilliant.

Pink Floyd, Asia, NiN, Camel, Jean Michel Jarre, Prokofiev, The Who and Mike Oldfield to mention a few that have made it back to my current playlist...

Anyway here are a few of mine that I like to listen to in the dark or with a good book. Preferably on vinyl.
