hdmi cable

Postby sohomita » 22 Sep 2011, 08:33

How do I connect my VGA to HDMI cable from my laptop to TV? I have already connected my laptop to a TV using an S-Video cable but I wanted something with better quality so I purchased a VGA to HDMI cable (TV does not have VGA input) to upgrade my quality. However no picture is being detected on the TV and my laptop will not recognise an external monitor or connection at all. I have a HDTV and a Vista Laptop, is there anything anybody could recommend, thanks.

There is no solution to connect VGA to HDMI directly. You need a converter box like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet-Converter- ... 843&sr=8-6 . You also need to ensure that the VGA output on your laptop supports TVout, if it doesn't then even the converter box will not work. If you had read the small print when you purchased the VGA to HDMI cable then you probably would have noticed a statement along the lines of "will not work with PC VGA output", as none of them do.

Tommy speaketh wisely. Personally I wouldnt bother with VGA -> HDMI as they are generally very grainy and suited to lower resolutions. You certainly wont be getting decent HD quality out of one (unless you pay mega bucks for a decent converter with good quality components).
