Insomnia Gaming Festival (i44) - 18th - 21st November 2011

Postby GTFO. Sly Raccoon » 30 Aug 2011, 12:55

After the awesomeness of i43 myself and Nacho have decided to go to the next insomnia event, i44! We invite anyone who wants to come or is already planning to go to sit with us!

Below is a little bit of information from the FAQ on the i44 event page.

What is the Insomnia Gaming Festival?
The Insomnia Gaming Festival is a gaming event for all ages, where gamers and industry leaders alike come together to celebrate games in all their forms.

Held 3 times a year at the International Centre in Telford, insomnia is a fusion of gaming, exhibitions, tournaments & social gatherings resulting in a festival that really does have something for everyone!

Where & when is it held?
The Insomnia Gaming Festival is held 3 times a year at The International Centre in Telford.

The first event of the year is during the Easter break in April, the second in the summer over the August Bank Holiday, and the third in November.

How much are tickets?
Bring your own computer/console (BYOC): £92 and allows 24/7 access to the whole 5 day event!
Note that during our early bird offers, tickets are as cheap as £63!

Spectator Pass: £10 per day or £25 for the whole event
This ticket gives you full access to the Exhibition where you can see some of the biggest names in the industry showing off their latest developments. You can also watch our world class tournaments live as they unfold, seeing the best in action!

What tournaments are running at the event?
We run prize winning tournaments at every event, which do vary from year to year as new games come out.

There are of course some firm favourites which nearly always make a return at every event. Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Call Of Duty 4 and Starcraft2 are among the regulars at the event, but make sure you keep an eye on our tournaments page to see what we have planned for each event!

You can even setup your own tournament if you want! Just ask one of our tournament admins and they will create you a full tournament setup in our event tournament system

Also, if you find that people are playing a game that you don’t have, don’t worry! We have our own local Steam content server, which allows you to get your gaming purchases super quick!

What is the Early Arrival Service (EAS)?
Early Arrival Service is undoubtedly our most popular additional service available for the iSeries, often with over 50% of the entire event partaking!

Early Arrival Service (“EAS”) allows you to arrive from 6pm the night before the event (Thusrday evening), meaning you can be set up and ready to go the next day after a good night’s sleep, avoiding that early morning journey.

Although we don’t guarentee network or power will be available for your desk until 9am the next morning, it’s been a very long time since an event that didn’t have these provided on Thursday evening!

This virtually adds another day onto the event for many people! EAS evening has a great atmosphere, with the keenest of gamers waiting to get gaming, and definitely something you have to try at least once.

Is there a map of the event?
Yes.

I'm probably going to opt for EAS again so keep that in mind. Also the Earlier bird (buy tickets before 13th September) is 30% off which works out at £64.40.

As for accommodation, the majority choose to camp out which is what I'm planning on doing personally. Alternatively you can sleep in the communal sleeping areas (also know as the red rooms) or choose a nearby hotel/B&B. Unfortunately you cannot sleep at your keyboard due to fire regulations :P.

That's the basics covered, there's a huge amount of information going into more detail about the event on the iSeries event site. I'll link the pictures of the i43 Flickr when they are up!

Currently UKCS aren't planning on a clan box for this event although we could get one or if enough of us want to go we could get them to make up the numbers!

(Also this is a quick C&P of the i43 thread so I'll clean it up some more when I get time, I just want people to get interested!)

Seems doubtful it won't be there considering how good the turnout was for i43, I'll see what I can find out

I've tweeted the question at Dentist, I think it's more likely they might not have a sponsor for it hence the lack of news. I hope it's going to be there though!

Multiplay aren't too sure themselves it seems RE the TF2 tournament, so we'll see what the community thinks - http://etf2l.org/forum/lan/topic-18204/
