Ok, i have been playing this for quite a bit now and its dangerously addictive. I thought it would be good to get a thread together for what people like so far about the game and what people dislike or feel needs to be changed.

As this is a beta version of the game, and DICE have already confirmed certain changes have already been made in the final release, i will be fairly lenient! I wont pick up on things like slow loading time, friends list not working etc as these are things already being fixed.


The Good

Addictive Gameplay
Large Maps
Great looking graphics
Great sound effects
Destruction of buildings is very nice

The Bad

Few vehicles available on the map, and people who take the tanks often sit at the back of the map bombarding the next cap point, instead of leading the way for the guys on foot.

Bullet damage seems to be fairly low, and a whole clip is sometimes needed to take someone down, where as pistols seem to do the job in 3-4 hits.

Proximity damage from tanks and explosives also seems too low, you can sit in the tank and fire a shell which explodes about a meter away from someone, and they will be unharmed. I feel the weapons on the tanks should be a bit more dangerous to make them more useful in the battle, and fearful for foot soldiers.

The grenade launcher for the assault class does not cause enough damage to the person firing it, when shot in close proximatiy, As such, some people are using it as a alternative to the shotgun/knife in close quarters fighting.

Too many people using the sniper class just to sit at the back on the hill.

Great thread Jamie!
Agree on most of these points, and the others I havn't experienced for myself.
As for the low vehicle count, with more vehicles i think the maps would be leveled too quickly, aswell DICE don't want to give away too much before the actual game is released.
The bullet damage is definately too low, I hope the realism mode in full game will take care of this.

While I agree with this to a certain extent, its a case of filling up what you have, more often or not people will take quadbikes for themselves when 2 people can get on it, and some tanks people only go with 2 people in whereas some can hold 4 people

This is a bug in the hit detection and DICE have acknowledged this, its due to client side lag causing broken hit boxes

As stated in the loadout the granade launcher is not meant for killing people, its meant to be used to destroy buildings

As stated in the loadout the granade launcher is not meant for killing people, its meant to be used to destroy buildings


it shouldnt be for close quarters man to man, but it most commonly is :)

I believe one of the specialisations does more damage and heavier armour and quicker reload

all in all 9-10

Likes: Very cool game (from what I've seen on YouTube), big open map, gameplay is far superior to MW2

Dislikes: The frigging game won't play on my system!! :cry: I've set graphics to lowest settings, lowest resolution, can't get past 20 fps, so I gave up after about 1 minute on a server. Completely unacceptable, considering a) my laptop actually exceeds the minimum requirements and b) I can play Crysis smoothly on medium settings. :evil:

its a beta, post your specs on the ea beta forum and gpu load e.c.t. to get full support. many people have said they are having problems with fps, its a beta, things will be fixed.

Yeah... Performance is bad, it is luckily playable for me - but I reckon it will be vastly improved by final release.
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" - I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

Squad Advantages: Im still not sure whether i like the squad reinforcement option. For example, when im up against one guy sat out in the open, and then suddenly 3 extra people teleport right next to him all at once, it creates quite a unfair advantage and i have little chance of survival.

The repair gun seems a little too efficient too. In most cases, the Engie seems to be able to repair a tanks health quicker then i can fire rockets at it which doesnt seem right. This may however be due to hit detection issues/bullet damage tweaks not yet been made etc

That works both ways, you could just as easily have your squad mates spawn on you...

We always in vent, and always create squad, and have a medic... If you don't have any team play, the game will seem quite unfair.

With taking out vehicles usually whizz/gash team up firing tracking dart, then it's piss easy for engie to take out. I'f im on UAV just fire rocket on it aswell...

nah, my new tactic of anti tank mines being placed (on defense)... works awesomely... or on attack i charge the tank drop the AT mines and chuck grenade at them to set them off and explode tanks...


also for quick destruction of sites, its c4 on UAV or i run in and drop all AT mines on it and blow them up...


(final release it won't be soo easy to destroy... but while in rome........)

im enjoying playing defense alot more then offense at the moment.

I like to hang around the objectives trying to keep them clear. Is nothing more fun then hitting a C4 quad bike with your grenade launcher as it tries to reach the objective...

Big issue at the moment tho is team vehicle killing, which is something that literally plagued BF2. Ive seen friendlys deliberately blowing up the helicopter as it takes off from spawn so that they can try and get it when it respawns.

It sucks and it would be useful if friendly's couldn't damage vehicles operated by their team mates.

In previous BF games, mainly BF2 and BF2142, the was a wave of player types known as the Floppers and Hoppers.
Hoppers would stay crouched and jump like the old bunnyhopping in CS. Their hitbox would become very erratic while they would not suffer any recoil normally caused by moving and jumping. Big pain in the arse.
But far worse, the Floppers..... the bastards who would open fire and dive to the floor, just to keep spraying at you and then dive back up again. So you are either shooting empty space where they were stood, or you are shooting the ground at their hitbox which is now around15% normal size.

Thankfully, it was confirmed that prone will not be present in BC2 which i for one am happy about. Is already way too many people taking sniper class and then just camping on the hill regardless of whats going on at the objectives. We dont need to give them the ability to prone as well.

Is amusing to read the BC2 forums and see all the kids whining that there is no prone ability and that we should all boycott the game until its added. Noobs....

It also gets rid of the issue that Whiteraven raised about 'Dolphin diving' which was way too frequent in BF2.

Is a good choice to keep it out in my opinion
