Cost 67 squid from Ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120414).

Have been really pleased with them tbh.

Pros
Err sound (!) can be pumped up to Neighbour-annoying levels without any problem :)
Sounds good even from my onboard 7.1 connection
Has a useful wired remote which allows volume control, power, bass setting etc..
Built in "matrix" mode (no not that Matrix) which basically has a decent go at splitting two channel audio into 5.1
Central front speaker has clever clip design which allows it to sit on top of monitor - thought this would annoy me, but actually works really well :o

Cons
Cables to rear surround speakers need to be longer, I'll probably re-wire them when I get a minute

So to summarise (this goes out to you Al) "OMFG THIS IS THE LEETEST PRODUCT EVAR!"
"fact - the Google traductor is a sh*t"

i second this, i got this set about 2 years ago from Comet for £49 and they are the best pc speakers i have used. Are great for 5.1 movies as well.

Cant go wrong with them tbh, and the sub is very impressive

I have recently stopped using them however as i now have a Sony Home Theater system which my PC and everything else plugs into.

good choice

im surprised actually at how much they still cost, If anything they seem to of gone up in price.

When i bought mine about 2-3 years ago, they were £45 on average most places i looked. They are not on average £60+

i found the bass very impressive as well, and they were very good for 5.1 movies. I would of happily paid around £100 for those and still be pleased.

Im still using a positively ancient kenwood NV701 - bought in 2001.

5.1 with analogue and digital DTS/DD/AC3 decoding too.

I usually get movies off rapidshare, do they have surround sund, or do most of them only have stereo? Can i just play them in any player (VLC, media player classic, windows media player) and surround is supported? I have surround soundcard on my motherboard.

Read the nfo files that accompany what you download Ech, most will tell you which audio codec is in the file and how many channels. Look for things like AC3, DTS etc. Most small movie uploads of 1gb or less tend to be just encoded with stereo MP3, so file size is imprtant too.

What formats are surround? Can AC3 be surround, or must it be ie. DTS?
