Performance Levels In BC2 Beta

Postby GTFO. Luckyg » 01 Feb 2010, 17:36

Going to be collecting data on peoples performance of the game then sending the info to DICE, all you have to do is follow what i say below.

1. Download Fraps and GPU-Z, these allow for you to see your fps in game and the load at which your GPU is working at.

Fraps - http://www.fraps.com/
GPU-Z - http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

2. Install and run both programs. When GPU-Z is open click the tab "sensors" then tick the box saying "continue refreshing this screen while GPU-Z is in the background"

3. Boot up BC2 Beta and connect to a server using your usual settings.

4. When ingame check your fps (top left hand corner) and make a note of what you see to be your maximum and lowest fps. Then work out an average ((highest fps + lowest fps) / 2)

5. Close your game and look at GPU-Z (might be minimized to tray) under the sensors tab look at the box that says "GPU load" click the little arrow next to this text and click "show average reading" and make a note of the % in the box next to it (Note - This needs to be done as soon as you leave the game as otherwise the average will lower due to a lower GPU load as the game is no longer running)

6. Make a note of this figure. You should now have you highest fps, your lowest fps and your highest GPU load during your time playing BC2 Beta

7. Come here to the forums and post the following infomation in this thread...

Processor:
Graphics Card:
Ram:
OS:
Graphics Settings:
Antialiasing Setting:
Anisotropic Setting:
Resolution:
Highest FPS:
Lowest FPS:
FPS Average:
GPU Load:

8. Relax, go back to being shitty at flying helicopters and let me do the finishing touches

Hmm... I think that's a bit short sighted, it's a beta, which is constantly being patched.
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" - I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

true, my system should easily handle it on advanced settings, but ive set it down to medium for now which makes gameplay alot smoother whilst things are still being tweaked.

they have said they will fix major performance issues in the final release, but they dont know if they will update the beta with it,

Im just collecting this data so they have a wider knowledge of what specs do what on the game and how they can tweak settings.

Thanks to everybody so far aswell :)

they have also confirmed that the high level of graphics are not available in beta, when you select highest or advanced, you are seeing mostly medium level settings

Processor:AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+
Graphics Card: ATi Sapphire Radeon HD4850 Vapor-X 512MB GDDR3
Ram:4GB DDR2 800MHz OCZ Ram
OS:Windows 7 64-bit

Anisotropic Setting:1x

Used the fraps benchmark for the fps average and stuff.
Really hope this game gets optimized for the full retail as i definately meet the min specs and should get better performance.

would need to be updated a lot to make it reasonable on my PC. but thats not a fault with the game because i half expected it to be running bad on my system. i don't see it being patched enough to make it run decently on my PC so it's no big deal.

i find MW2 more fun anyway (when i get into a game that isn't full of lag)

Processor: Phenom II X2 550 BE @ 3.1GHz
Graphics Card: HIS HD 5770 1Gb GDDR5 @ 900MHz / 1200MHz
Ram: 4Gb OCZ XTC Platinum 6400
OS: Windows 7 Pro 32Bit
Graphics Settings: Everything High
Antialiasing Setting: 4x
Anisotropic Setting: 4x
Resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60Hz
Highest FPS: 47
Lowest FPS: 33
FPS Average: 40ish
GPU Load: 61%

The Catalyst Control Centre gives 3 different levels of Anti-Aliasing: Multi Sample, Adaptive Multi Sample and Super Sample. I have it set at the highest quality Super Sample, and the Mipmap detail is also set to the High Quality setting.

Edit-

Funnily enough, when I reduce all settings to Low and AA/AF to 1x (CCC settings as Multi Sample and Low MipMap level) I only see an extra 5-12 FPS, and GPU load peaks at 32%
Serious problem here lol
