Comments: This is a really good deal for all those out there who want a large monitor but are on a tight budget. It does full HD and has an amazing picture quality. It has a very comfortable brightness (it won't burn your eyes out nor will it seem off). My big con is that it has no HDMI in (VGA and DVI-D only) but otherwise this is one of the best screens if seen when it comes to bang for the buck. Final con is that it is not height adjustable, the foot is fixed. Overall great product - 5 stars!

WARNING: iiyama has/had a policy of not replacing monitors if theres is only a small number of defective pixels

This may be standard practice I don't know but I have had 2 iiyama monitors, both were ProLite E431S and both had defective pixels from new. The first had a single pixel that constantly stayed red which I managed to get replaced under warranty. The second one which was the replacement had a single colourless pixel but I kept that one as I was lucky to get the first one replaced.

It could be I just had bad luck, it could be that the manufacturing process isn't great or it could be the supplier selling off B stock as new. Either way its worth knowing before buying. I got them from MoreComputers.com btw.

I have an iiyama monitor as a 2nd monitor at work and it has a pixel stuck in blue.

Drifting slightly further off topic...

Dead pixels is a manufacturing fault. They are dead from day one, they stay dead and new ones don't die (so I've been told by a pixel expert).

Failing connections can cause whole rows or columns to start failing later in the life of the screen, though, but these should not be confused with dead pixels.

The best way to check a new screen for dead pixels is to get image viewing software that allows you to view images full screen and create BMPs in the exact resolution of the screen of the following colours:
100% red, 100% green, 100% blue, 100% red green blue in the same image (white) and 0% red green blue in the same image (black).

Cycle through them one by one and use a ball point pen to tick off each pixel on the screen.
