Rage?! What's this game all about then, eh? I just saw a glimse of it on a t'interwebz ad somewhere and I simply REFUSE to go looking for trailers etc until our wonderful community approves it for me.

Reviews of it suggest it's a typical Id title - good combat and racing, shit story. Some issues include various day 1 bugs, large distances between checkpoints, lack of any graphics configuration options (all you get is resolution and AA controls. Seriously) and Fallout-style texture popping which doesn't seem to have any known fix atm. It's something that I'd buy in the Xmas Steam sales rather than now for full price.

Only a few hours in, but enjoying it so far. It is NOT an open world game - invisible walls everywhere, kinda somewhat disappointed in that because the terrain makes me want to explore it fully but I can't (guess I still have Fallout: New Vegas in my mind). The shooting mechanics are solid and the AI is quite smart. I'm expecting a thin plot as id aren't renowned for good ones, but I can see myself getting into this game.

One thing to mention is that out of the box, the game looked like shit. The engine (id Tech 5) tries to balance performance with quality, but I think it's a bit off initially because I was getting pop in textures everywhere. I had to load in a config to improve the textures and reduce the pop in:

The game now runs like a charm (as it bloody well should on 2xGTX 580s).

I am currently enjoying the start of the game but the graphics pop up issue is really pissing me off.

Looking at the work around Russian has passed over (Thanks by the way) and will see how this works out.

I am running it on 2xGTX560Ti.
