Seriously, should I buy this....

Postby Yeti! » 07 Apr 2010, 22:52

I remember playing Battlefield quite a bit. mostly around the time special forces came out.

It was a good game, but the support was shite.

On my computer, BF took at least 2 mins to loadup, map changes took ages to sort themselves out, spawn raping was par for the course, and generally it was laggy. Bunny hopping was normal.... APCs were hogged, and anytime you played on a server where someone actually knew how to play a chopper well, you got completely owned.

Is BF2 any different...

Has EA learned and actually given support to the game...

Should I buy it...

No flames please!! (famous last words...)

Sadly the novelty has worn off a bit for me :(
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" - I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

I think the novelty has worn off for a lot of people, it's very rare to see the GTFO servers full these days. It used to be that 5/6 were full but now it's rare to see one. :(

Still think BF1942 was the best one, but its a pain in the *** to install it all again with all expansions, extra maps, updates & the Desert Combat + Desert Combat X mod's etc.

I still like it, and would install it if my friends would install 'm again...

but they find it taking too long.... cant blame 'm.

Data, couldn't agree more. Some of the best fun I've had was hogging up a german bomber with my mates, shooting down every plane coming towards us, and bombing the shit out of ground troops xD

As for BC2, it just didn't appeal to me... Could be due to being into other games at the time, but seeing how many are playing it less and less, i'm starting to doubt that...

I love it, blowing someone's head off with a sniper rifle from one end of the map is a joy o experience. Yeah the GTFO servers are dead in the water but there are plenty of other servers to play on. When you get into a good squad it can be quite enjoyable.

Think they're dead because of the "Join Now" option not working, maybe they'll fix it soon. Hope so.

I'm really enjoying BC2, yes there are annoyances like shit hit reg at times, but the actual gameplay is excellent. The 2 things that do need to be sorted out are admin on our servers and team balance. If there are a few in vent it makes it much more enjoyable. Shame our servers are not being used much.

as fun as it is, and hit reg doesnt seem to be such a issue on HC servers, i still find myself playing other games more.

As good as the game is, it will never overtake DODS/TF2 in my books, which are still number 1

the game is good, just with every new game comes bugs and exploits which ruin the experience :)

lol "NO" then.

Seems like EA continue to release buggy games.

For all DEVS out there, WHEN oh WHEN will they realise that the vast majority of gamers would prefer to wait a couple of months for a bug free game....

Someone give me a call when BC2 runs at lowest settings at least as smoothly as Crysis does at medium settings on my laptop. I mean - COME ON!!

Maybe around the same time you realise that big games cost big bucks per month to develop. An addition of a couple of months with no income could push a developer out of business and the game never gets released. Ideally games should be 100% bug free when released, but since when has this been an ideal world? Eh? Eh? Exactly.

Pros
- enjoying the overall experience when i dont over play the game
- loved the old BF: Vietnam ( i was totally hooked on the game and the music was epic).

Cons
- hate the server browser ( i thought it would have been intergrated into steam)- FAIL
- need more maps
- not been able to pick this game up quickly (when i want to play a quick round), so i end up playing TF2 for a quick game.
- hit reg needs work
- lack of in game community, friends, team work
- never been able to play on GTFO servers

Should you pick this up? well i have only ever purchased tthe following games:
- Half life (includes Half Life DM, Team fortress Classic, DOD (1.3)
- Half life 2 ( HL DM)
- Team Fortress 2
- Dod: Source

- Battlefield Company 2

Its safe to say games from valve are my kind of gaming. So my next purchases will be
- Half life 3
- Team fortress 3
- Dod: 3? :D

the answer to your question is NO for now....
