Steam Deals

Postby Russian Guyovich » 21 Oct 2011, 11:05

I thought this might be a decent thread to have for keeping people informed about various Steam deals going on in case they miss them.

Weekend Deal: Every GTA game for a fiver in the UK!

Bought it. Already got Vice City and San Andreas on 360, but prefer it on the PC ofc ;)

Good idea for the thread as well.

Not really a deal, but more a steal. Batman Arkham Asylum is £9.99, brilliant game. Even more so if you plan on getting Arkham City!

Here's two helpful sites to check prices for daily's, weekend and random deal's:
http://www.steamgamesales.com/
http://www.steamprices.com/uk

Its a good idea just to look on the steam store page each day and half way down the page on the right is the daily deal. Also look on the "Specials tab" on the main store page as there are sometimes more than 1 daily deal or another random offer you may miss!

Here's the SPUF page that gets updated daily about Deals, Price reductions and Pre-purchase offers:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... p?t=518670
It also has a huge list of region restricted games, so you can see if there's anything you've been wanting on steam, that is actually available, but just not in your country :P

My recommended offer! = Worms Crazy Golf Fun Pack - http://store.steampowered.com/sub/11913

The number of times this has been on offer for around £3-4 this year is unreal though so I'd wait for it to come around again on offer

As cows says i'd wait :P
Steam Prices sale chart shows it being at £3.75, 5 times this year and once last year. I'm sure they will have it back down at that price for christmas and/or on a deal with Arkham city as well.

A couple in the specials list are Zero Punctuation's favourites:

Painkiller £4.49
Amnesia £2.60

Already had Amnesia (which is TERRIFYING btw, so I've only managed to get about 30 minutes in before having to turn it off again ), but have just picked up Painkiller! (And both Bioshock games (@ £3.49 each) as I loved the first one, but never owned it.)

What an awesome sale! :D Anyone else picking up anything from there?

Don't get why everybody seems to find amnesia so scary tbh, penumbra black plague had more 'fright' moments imo.

Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are only 3 pound 50 each!! (My keyboard doesn't have a 'pound' symbol. Bloody Americans!)

Also, the Dead Space pack (1 and 2) is about 11 pounds!

Yet to try amnesia and already have it too. Painkiller is an awesome series! I've yet to finish the last one as I was doing it on Trauma mode (I think thats the highest level).

Pretty much the rest that I didn't already have :P

They are good in small doses, but I struggled to play them for more than a few hours in one session. Luckily they are in chapters at about an hour's length so doing a chapter a day, this game is pretty decent.

Play it on hard though - way more intense. Gory as fuck deaths too.

I have ARMA 2 but I never found it "fun". It was a little too realistic for my liking and generally got shot from miles away without knowing who or what was happening. I suppose it is SUPPOSED to be a simulator but even so - the codemasters ripoff (dragon rising?) was far more fun but less people play it. That air battle looks epic.

A must get if you don't have it. You might as well go for the Deluxe edition as well

From PC Gamer (because I couldn't be arsed to type out the games):

"Super Meat Boy completely won us over with its slightly icky take on the good ol’ platform genre. To celebrate its first anniversary, the game has been released as part of a huge bundle on Steam, which includes the original game, Aquaria, Bit.Trip Beat, Bit.Trip Runner, Braid, Gish, Machinarium, VVVVV and World of Goo. You’ll also get the music tracks from Super Meat Boy, Braid, Machinarium, Bit.Trip Beat and Bit.Trip Runner. That’s a whole bunch of indie gaming right there, and it’ll only set you back £17.89 ($28) – or £1.78 per game. Oh yeah, it also includes Half-Life 2, for some reason."

Yeah but EVERY GAME has someone who jumps in with 'omg your gameezzzz suxxx0rs!!! i crashing all time OMG!! f you!!!". I've played through a few 'missions' and it's just like GTA without the manic shooting or driving all over the place.

If you like investigations and not the running around shooting people in the face, you should like it. I have no fps problems.

Certainly feels like it's worth a try. People have the same problems with Dragon Age etc. Normally due to people having 6-7 year old pc's and think they can run it with ultra graphics.

£8.74 is worth a punt.

L.A. Noire is good, but take your time with it is my advice. There's a lot of repetition in the game and they could've added a lot more variation to the cases and interrogations, but the motion capture, music and overall presentation is outstanding. It's worth picking it up for that, however stagger your playtime over a couple of days/weeks to get the most enjoyment out of it.

Fantastic sale today. Aside from LA Noire, Skyrim has 33% off again. And Arkham City is half price, both FANTASTIC games. If you don't have them already, then I highly recommend them! Deus Ex: Human Revolution is down to a tenner, another great game. And AC:R has 25% off. Although I will be getting that one on the xbox as my housemates wanna play it too. Heroes of Might and Magic 6 is also half price, not as famous, but I have loved the series since I was a wee gamer. It is a blend of RTS and RPG, a fantastic game!

It is rare that you get that much knocked off a new game. And especially seeming though the Skyrim/Arkham City/MW3 trio are still selling at full price.

And I bought Deus Ex:HR for 20 quid. Dammit!
