7v7 was pretty shit tbh, 6v6 seems a better mode to do if not doing 9v9...9v9 is best mode possible but i would say going to down to 6v6 would be better than 7v7

Yeah we should do 6v6 or 9v9. 7v7 is crap, and shouldn't be 1 limit as quite a few 6v6 teams have 2 scouts.

My suggestion would be, if not 9v9 (which should be done if possible), 6v6 with the normal class limits, i.e. 2 Class Limit and 1 on Demo and Medic.

set up a separate part of the forum with sticky:
- rules (don't forget the mandatory demo upload by all team members).
- discussion (this thread

And then normal threads for
- recruitment treads per country (UK, NL, FR, BE, DE, LU, etc) by the country representive.
- per team (UK-..., UK-..., FR-..., NL-..., etc)
- matches
- challenges
- Players treads, with a overview of information in the OP about a player (steam ID, link to statspage, link to steam profile, country, favorite classes, team, team status (fixed player or a sub))

And btw, who's (with enough experience RECOGNIZING hacks) going to look at all those demo's?

Additional rules needed:
- screenshots of status command (to make sure the players with the right steam-ID are playing, and yes, that needs to be checked)
- scoreboard screenies
- checking of players configs & scripts, whats allowed and what not.

That seems a bit too serious Data, as this is supposed to be a "Fun Cup" and set up by ourselves I don't think most of that would be needed.

I've already asked G for a sub forum for this, and it will be set up.

EDIT: And as coxy says above, this is a fun cup. All the POV demos and SteamID checking won't be needed.
Screenshots and if the server allows it, STV demos, is enough imo.

oh, and they really going to check that out by going spec in a match?

pubs mindset != comp mindset

and about "Regs don't hack... ", well, I suspect a couple of having hacks, so far I could not prove it tho.

And don't get me started on a couple that hack but aren't banned, while everybody is fully aware of it, its proved a bunch of times, and any (ban)tread of it being removed. But this will prolly also be removed, so whats the point.

Vac is one of the best anti cheat systems out there, they are always ninja updating it. it would be very hard to get away without using hacks for any lengh of time without getting a ban.

I could understand the demos if it was a serious comp but its not, if people are gonna take it that serious that they gonna cry hacks and accuse people of cheating they shouldnt be entering.

VAC detecting all hacks? keep dreaming. First of all, a bunch of VAC bans are done manually, second, VAC makes a footprint hash and sends it to valve, if valve ever encounters the hack, they can add the hash as being banned, and everybody who ever used it is VACed. If they never encounter the actual plugin testing it, the guy will never be banned. if the hack doesn't trigger the footprint to be send... Get informed be4 you say such.

@SiR Round, nope, wont be in it. Its way underestimated in the work that needs to be done for it to keep it a fair tournament. 5 teams means with round robin 10 matches, on 2 maps. With 7 players a team, that would be 140 demo's to review. As I just saw it offed by G to a headman per country to do this... It means also that the rules etc are up to those, and who's being appointed for it per country? And if others from that country don't agree on such? I'm not going to be tangled up with such a mess, sorry.

@ Coxy, I know the difference between a good player and a hacker, problem is proving it. I'm not gonna say who I suspect, not my way of doing things. The named ones so far are not in my opinion, and no, not gonna do any further "trial and error" guessing who I actually suspect.

@ the rest, never noticed some report treads being removed in the forum's bans section? I did notice some time ago. and those provided enough evidence. When I asked questions via PM to some ppl, "higher powers" decided that the bans are not to be applied and the threads to be deleted.

I never said the anti cheat system was perfect however they are always updating where punk buster can go months without getting updates.

Valve take cheating very serious and come down heavy on people who get caught, i have heard of people getting the whole account banned.

That alone would be enough to put me off cheating with the number of games i have on steam and the money i had spent.

At the end of the day there are cheats everywhere on every game and every format, the best thing to do is not worry about it and enjoy your own game. But you seem more worried about people cheating and increasing your post count then joining in and having fun with the community.

Guys - Can we try and keep this thread on topic and for it's core purpose please. Let's leave the minutiae of ban and cheat detection systems for another day or at least another thread please.

And for anyone not choosing to be involved with this please make an assumption that anyone who does choose to be involved is doing so with eyes open and understands the pre-requisites to make it work. Each to their own :D

I don't mind how teams are selected - I just think a "representative" for each team country will help organising. Some kind of discussion amongst the country members needs to take place to give as many people a try as possible.

Perhaps each country can create a steam group, "GTFOGaming France" etc, and all french tf2 players on gtfo servers ccould join. Just an idea :)

Wouldn't be able to get a team together though. As far as i know there are only 3 players from Slovenia that play regulary on the GTFO servers.

Maybe we could pretend that I'm from a diferrent country and join others lol.

I'm not sure I could deliver a Dutch group. Can't really overlook the amount of work to put in. I'm not talking about cheats and getting demos, wouldn't want to spend time on that.

Any tips on what's involved?

Cheers.

Yep, although as I said earlier, much will depend on when the matches take place, I will be working a lot of the weekends over Aug/Sep/Oct >_<

As someone mentioned (sorry, hopeless memory), you should try and get hold of GDS and PB clans which are both 100% French if i'm not mistaken, and also pretty regular players on GTFO.

It will probably be that each team has 1 match per week, and the 2 teams playing in each match decide between them what day and time they should play.
