Website Downtime Update

Postby GTFO. Luckyg » 11 Aug 2011, 14:01

As some of you were aware at about 5am on Saturday the 6th of August the GTFO website went down, this was due to the web server that we host on dying due to a hardware malfunction.

Skip forward a couple of days and Killer creation managed to get the web server backup and running on monday, however due to the corruption we lost the entire website. No up-to-date backups were saved from the malfunction.

As of today, G has managed to restore an old backup of the website and get it back up and running again, however a lot of work is going to have to be done to get it back up and running how it was, so we ask that if you see any issues or bugs please report them in this thread with as much detail as you can such as time of when it happened, browser you are using and any steps you could do to replicate it.

We have also lost alot files that were stored on our file servers so you may notice some file attachments are no longer working, if you do notice this, feel free to let one of the admins or the post owner know and they can re-upload the media.

Luckily for us, G stored all forum details and server bans on a separate database so all the forums and bans should be functioning as normal.

We would like to thank you for your patience and help as we get this website back to being good as new :)

Hmmm, few issues I've spotted...

** Couldn't upload screenies, get this after clicking "Add file" (so the actual browsing for the file works alright, just adding it that causes this issue):

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Web Server at gtfogaming.co.uk "[/i]

** If I click "About Us", "Servers", "Sponsors" or "Donate" I get a load of errors down the right-hand side:

"Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'gtfoga_dbuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /var/www/vhosts/gtfogaming.co.uk/httpdocs/includes/right.php on line 3

Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: Access denied for user 'gtfogaming'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /var/www/vhosts/gtfogaming.co.uk/httpdocs/includes/right.php on line 4

Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]: A link to the server could not be established in /var/www/vhosts/gtfogaming.co.uk/httpdocs/includes/right.php on line 4"[/i]

There's more than just that, but you get the picture...

(Tried with IE, FireFox, Chrome, Safari and Opera)

** Getting an "Ajax Call Failed" when clicking "Bans". Something to do with XML. Can't give you a screenie - soz! Only tried this in IE.

** The page http://stats.gtfogaming.co.uk/hlstats.php doesn't appear to work. Getting a 404 (I think). Again, only tried IE.

Thanks for getting the site up again though - I missed the satisfying distraction from work!!

Getting there...
When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" - I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter than "Yes"

Good to see it up again! Don't forget to announce on Steam page, as I had stopped checking to see if you were up as I am sure others have too...

I've had a look at the server page - The No of players bit has changed. Can't see how many on the server. Not sure if this is intentional or not.

Little aesthetic problem I noticed, certainly not a show-stopper!

Clicking the header "Ranking" screws up the "Forum" header (it looks like it's trying to squeeze an additional image above it). Screenie attached. Tried in IE, Chrome, Safari...
