Wireplay 7v7 league

Here we go again. Wireplay have just announced they'll be running another 7v7 league in the very near future. It's sorta a mix between 6v6 and highlander, though attracts (at least in the past) a lot more highlander players than 6v6 ones. It's very pub friendly, and an ideal way for pub players interested in comp play to get into the comp scene.

Rules (at least for the last season) are:

7v7 Class Limit 1
Attack/Defend, Payload, King of the Hill & CTF maps
Crits Off
Stopwatch On
7 week season
All weapons allowed

The previous wireplay 7v7 league is what got myself and a few other GTFO players interested in playing competitively, and we managed to win it fairly easily. With all the recent highlander interest from various communites, it'll be a far larger challenge this time round, but that can only make it more fun

This is more an informational post than a recruitment one, as I'm not sure how many will be interested. Please post if you'd be up for playing though.

A good medic, good heavy, not bad soldier, or average spy. I can play engi very well, as it's not hard

I'm interested in this too.

Can play Sniper, Scout or Spy pretty well. Also a decent soldier, and medic.

Though I will not try to organize it, as I'm somewhat stressed atm.

I am guessing chances of someone taking the time to organize this is sorta small, I can't dedicate too much time but I got a lot of spare time (left education, unemployed

) so I volunteer myself to get this going.

Community Team - my aim will be to get as many Community players involved as possible being an experienced competitive player I will also try and share my knowledge if you want.

Any other players interested - though this aims to be a mostly community based team so if like people from 8 mates and a ginger are forming their own team best side up in that.

With a few more community players we can definately have the makings of a team, I would say 10 is a good number to have.

For 7v7 you will need a

Permanent: Medic, Heavy and Demo:

Off-classing depending on map or situation: Other 6 classes, though Soldier and Pyro will probably be run 95% of the time.

Some maps like 5cp will require a Scout without the need for an Engineer but other maps like defending pl maps will require an engineer rather than a scout. A good sniper will be helpful on wider, open maps.

I'm not a brilliant sniper but soldier, heavy and spy I'm good at. I'm also a well practised scout so i can run the points at the start and own other scouts if required

To play you will need to sign up to the team on Wireplay. Here I will write a guide to what you need to do to join.

1) Go to http://tf2.wireplay.co.uk and sign up to the site (note forum members and site members are seperate.

2) When you signed up go to your 'control panel' on the right hand side of your screen.

3) select 'edit site profile' and enter your SteamID in (If you haven't already done this when you made your account originally). To find your SteamID you can either join a TF2 Server and type 'status' in console or you can go on the GTFO gaming hlstatsx page and find it there. (http://stats.gtfogaming.co.uk/playerinfo/3518) Go to that page and search your name then find your player info.

4) I have called the team 'GTFO Regulars' with the tag 'Regs' - http://tf2.wireplay.co.uk/7v7/index.php?pg=clans&action=viewclan&cid=1000
Go back to/Open up your control panel. On your personal settings page there are 2 options next to your "Nickname", which are "Join|Create". You need to click on join and a list of clans will be available in a drop down box on the new page that opens.

5)You will need to scroll down to "R" and find the team under "Regs (GTFO Regulars)" NOT UNDER G (as in GTFO Regulars)!
Hit submit and your done!
Then I will get a message about 'applying members' and I will add you in.

6) Once completed you are on the squad and eligible to play 7v7. We can have more than 7 members so everyone feel free to join.

Admins in Wireplay are pretty steady headed guys so they will add us in, some teams will drop also.

As I said to AA the other day I'm willing to sub for whoever. Willing to fill in anywhere, but I'd rather not play medic or demo, as I think they are too important for a noob to play. Bear in mind I have 0 exp of Comp play and am a relative noob to TF2, with a mere 160 hours or so. I can't play Saturdays and Sunday Afternoons. If you need me to be a specific class then tell me what to be and I'll try and practise up.

Also the league registration has ended and they have full allocation of teams - however there are usually drops in the first couple of weeks so we should get a chance to play yet.

On topic I got the badly named GTFO Regulars (aka too lazy to come up with a good name) signed up in Division 3 and our first game on Goldrush + Viaduct is this week. I dunno when you guys want to play it, we have 8 members (really want more so plenty of substitutes) but yeah post here when best time to play is. At the minute I will be proposing somewhere around 18 CET Sunday until I know more.

Thanks for responses guys. I'd arrange a practice except only I got to run my 6v6 team as well. All I say though is on Sunday we turn up, play these guys (div 5 ETF2L team so they will be a fair challenge) and have some fun. Probably get stomped but oh well. Would love a few more people on the team, thanks to everyone signing up so far.

Looks like Sunday 7pm will be the time, if that is the case I will just miss a few games with my team and play this
